2012 Intercultural Postponed
Dear sisters, brothers, and friends,
Just in case you didn't see the announcement on the Intercultural Ministries page on Brethren.org, the 2012 Intercultural Consultation and Celebration has been postponed.
The event will return, though we are unsure if we'll be able to reschedule for a new 2012 date. Please continue to visit the Intercultural Ministries page, this blog, our Facebook page, or Twitter feed for updates and news.
Additionally, in light of national staff reductions and on-going budget concerns, time was taken to evaluate the Intercultural Ministries Director position for re-hiring. We are pleased that members of the committee had input into the process and the position will be re-hired. An announcement will be posted very soon on Brethren.org.

The Church of the Brethren has a treasure in its heritage - the often-unrecognized gold of our peace heritage. This heritage helps us find a way to respond to real and challenging problems of violence in our time.Learn more about the event's program, cost, location, continuing education units (CEUs), and more:
We will spend time looking at the roots of peace in the life of Christian faith (Brethren practice + Biblical roots + experiments in nonviolence). We will draw from the history of the U.S. Civil Rights movements and other struggles for justice. We will practice applying this heritage to problems like violence and injustice.
How do we actually live out the values of peace and nonviolence, offering God's shalom and Christ's peace to the world around us?

2011 Consultation Fun Fact #2
Did you know that 2011 Intercultural Consultation and Celebration attendees can earn 2.0 CEUs from the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership?
This CEU award is designed to help Church of the Brethren pastors working toward their re-ordination or re-licensing standards. One pastor who has attended the consultation says they're the easiest CEUs that he earns because he makes new connections, learns something new to help his congregation, and has fun.
Representatives of the Brethren Academy will issue CEU certificates at the conclusion of the 2011 Intercultural Consultation and Celebration. If you request a certificate, an additional cost of $10.00 per certificate will be added to your registration.

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (which is done in the body by human hands) - 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,More to come soon about confirmed preachers, worship leaders, training session leaders and topics, and registration information.
