Jordan Blevins, Special Presenter

We are pleased to announce that Jordan Blevins, Advocacy Officer and Ecumenical Peace Coordinator for the Church of the Brethren and National Council of Churches, U.S.A (NCC), will be a special presenter at the 2011 Intercultural Consultation and Celebration.

Blevins will speak about Brethren advocacy efforts. He previously served the NCC as assistant director of land and water programs, coordinator of the poverty initiative, and also oversaw the internship program of the NCC Washington Office. Blevins was a legislative intern at the Church of the Brethren's Witness/Washington office, where he participated in a Faith Expedition to Vietnam, which resulted in the creation of and follow-up reporting on a Brethren Water and Sanitation project there by the Global Food Crisis Fund. Additionally, he was manager of Cokesbury Bookstore in Washington, D.C., as well as a grassroots fundraiser for Grassroots Campaigns, Inc.

Blevins holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion and a B.S. in Business Administration from Bridgewater College. He graduated from American University and Wesley Theological Seminary, with a Master of Arts degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, and a Masters of Theological Studies, respectively.

Blevins is an active member of the Church of the Brethren, currently serving on the Young Adult Steering Committee and as the co-chair of the NewFire Task Force. Previous leadership service includes the Board of Directors of On Earth Peace and the Young Adult Task Force of the U.S. Conference of the World Council of Churches. Jordan  is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry in Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue at Wesley Theological Seminary.
